Murhut Falls + More

  • Murhut Falls Trailhead (map)

This Thursday Oct 8th we enjoy one our favorite waterfall hikes to Murhut Falls and do an add on to the Ranger Hole or Rocky Brooks Falls'

The Murhut Falls is a 1.6 mile out and back with 250 ft. of elevation change which is in the first 1/2 mile but we just take it easy. The 2 connected water falls make it worth the hike.  After Murhut we will either hike down to the Ranger Hole on the Duckabush river which is an easy 1.4 mile out & back hike with one steep section.  The other option is a very short 1/4 mile walk to Rocky Brook Falls but extreme care must be used on the  rocks at the base made very slippery from the spray from the falls. The road to Murhut includes about 3 miles of gravel road with pot holes.

We will leave the church at 9:00 a.m. and meet others at the intersection of the Duckabush River Rd (Forest Service Rd 2510) and Hwy 101 MP 310.( 22 miles north of Hoodsport)  We will make  potty stop at the Interrorem Guard Station cabin 4 miles up the river.  Another pit toilet location is the Duckabush River trailhead. The weather will be cooling so bring a light jacket. Everyone will need to wear a face covering at the falls because the view point is congested.

Please let me know where you will meet the group.  Parking is limited at the Murhut TH so plan to park tightly.  No pass is required for parking at Murhut  but the Northwest Forest pass is required for Ranger Hole.  We will probably eat lunch at the Ranger Hole TH after the Murhut hike.
